How to Get More Google Reviews for Your Business

Google reviews are one of the biggest factors in local search rankings. Here's a practical guide to getting more of them consistently.

Google reviews influence where you appear in local search results — and more importantly, whether customers trust you enough to walk through the door. Here's how to build a steady stream of them.

Ask at the right moment

Timing matters. The best moment to ask for a review is immediately after a positive experience — when a job is complete, when a customer thanks you, or when someone says they'd recommend you to a friend. Don't wait a week and send a cold email.

Make it easy

Most people won't hunt for your Google listing. Send them a direct link to your review page. The fewer taps between them and the review form, the more reviews you'll get.

Follow up — once

A single, polite follow-up can double your conversion rate. Don't spam, but one reminder a few days later is completely reasonable.

Respond to every review

Responding to reviews (positive and negative) signals to Google that your listing is active, and signals to potential customers that you care. Keep responses short and genuine.

Don't fake it

Buying reviews or incentivising them with discounts violates Google's policies and can get your listing penalised or removed. Genuine reviews from real customers are always the better play.
